60 Second Time Machine

From ORALGIENE USA, Inc. ®

Winner Of “GOOD DESIGN” Award

CULVER CITY, CA. (December 2002) -The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design opened its annual Good Design Show with an awards presentation recognizing innovative product thinking and originality. The new, battery operated 60 Second Time Machine power toothbrush for children from manufacturer Oralgiene USA, Inc.® received a Good Design Award in the Personal Care category.

This prestigious tribute is granted each year to a select number of products, which exemplify both good design and a positive use.

The award winning, AA battery operated TimeMachine power toothbrush features internationally patented brush heads which reach all tooth surfaces at once at the angle recommended by dentists; a 60 second timer; a soft push off/on button; a 60 second timer; a safety seal closure to keep batteries dry and tamper free from children; and attractive, updated colors of lime, raspberry and yellow.

Founded in 1988, the Museum is dedicated to the Art of Design in all areas of the discipline: architecture, industrial, and product design, graphics, and urban planning.  “The Museum's mission is the advancement of public education about the value of Good Design and how design can positively impact the human environment.” a spokesperson for the Museum says.

Manufactured and distributed by Oralgiene USA, Inc., Culver City, California the 60 Second Time Machine is a good example of the Museum’s philosophy.  Several clinical trials, pitting the TimeMachine against both manual and power toothbrushes, have come up with positive results … better plaque removal, better brushing and all around better cleansing in half the time.

The TimeMachine toothbrush, originally designed by a team of dentists and engineers, has recently enjoyed a reworking by the award winning team of Stuart Karten and Simon Sollberger of Stuart Karten Design, Inc. of Marina Del Rey, California.  This model is the AA battery powered 60 Second Time Machine power toothbrushes.

As the nation's only independent Museum of Architecture and Design, the Chicago Athenaeum has demonstrated leadership and innovation in bringing the subject of design and its impact on the quality of life before a national and international audience. The innovative Time Machine toothbrush is in that same spirit, design of a new and a better way to brush teeth in an attractive form.  Architect/Designer Louis Sullivan’s famous quote, “Form follows function” epitomizes the 60 Second TimeMachine.
